It is too late Mr Paypal. You had me as a customer, but when I started witnessing your tyrannical actions, I decided to leave you (I did this around 12 months ago). Others are too. I mentioned leaving many things such as Fakebook as Dan Bongino and others are setting up a parallel economy.

Why?

The only way to make Tyrants change is to hurt them financially. The trouble for them is, we will never return if there are alternatives available.

Update 16 October 2022: Paypal has NOT changed their mind.

My personal story with Paypal – you will be shocked (or maybe you wont).

PayPal on Oct. 8 said it was not implementing a new policy that would have enabled the company to seize money from users who allegedly promote “misinformation” or “hate.”

“An AUP notice recently went out in error that included incorrect information. PayPal is not fining people for misinformation and this language was never intended to be inserted in our policy,” a PayPal spokesperson told The Epoch Times in an email.

“Our teams are working to correct our policy pages. We’re sorry for the confusion this has caused,” the spokesperson added.

The company in September announced that it was amending its acceptable use policy, or AUP.

The policy, due to take effect in November, said that users may not use PayPal to for the “sending, posting, or publication of any messages, content, or materials that, in PayPal’s sole discretion, (a) are harmful, obscene, harassing, or objectionable, (b) depict or appear to depict nudity, sexual or other intimate activities, (c) depict or promote illegal drug use, (d) depict or promote violence, criminal activity, cruelty, or self-harm (e) depict, promote, or incite hatred or discrimination of protected groups or of individuals or groups based on protected characteristics (e.g. race, religion, gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, etc.) (f) present a risk to user safety or wellbeing, (g) are fraudulent, promote misinformation, or are unlawful, (h) infringe the privacy, intellectual property rights, or other proprietary rights of any party, or (i) are otherwise unfit for publication.”

For each violation, PayPal says users are subject to repercussions. Those include “liquated damages” of $2,500 per violation. The money will be taken directly from a person’s PayPal account.

Users were directed to PayPal’s user agreement, which states in part that PayPal can take a number of actions if users participate in restricted activities, such as holding their money in balance indefinitely. It also says that “you will be liable to PayPal for the amount of PayPal’s damages caused by your violation of the Acceptable Use Policy” at the amount of $2,500 per violation.

That money will cover internal administrative costs for PayPal to monitor and track violations and damage to PayPal’s brand, among other costs, according to the agreement.

Scores of people noticed the pending update in recent days and many announced on social media they would be closing their accounts.

“Seriously, close your PayPal account immediately if they don’t reverse this today,” Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert, said.

“It’s hard for me to openly criticize a company I used to love and gave so much to. But @PayPal ’s new AUP goes against everything I believe in. A private company now gets to decide to take your money if you say something they disagree with. Insanity,” added David Marcus, a former president of PayPal.

Still, others had suggested the policy was not a problem.

“PayPal has a tiny clause forbidding spreading fraudulent information or misinformation on the platform. Ya know—so people can’t sell you a magic bean that cures cancer or anything,” Keith Farrell, an author, wrote. “And conservatives are out here telling on themselves, acting like this about them!”

PayPal Did NOT Back Down, STILL Threatens $2,500 Fines for Promoting ‘Hate’ and ‘Intolerance’

(AP Photo/Jeff Chiu, File) The story was shocking: As PJM’s Rick Moran stated Saturday, “The financial services company PayPal announced a controversial policy to deduct up to $2,500 from the accounts of users who spread ‘misinformation.’” But as the news of this astonishing plan circulated far and wide, PayPal experienced a swift backlash in the form of a blizzard of account cancellations, and quickly backed down, claiming that the announcement went out “in error” and adding: “PayPal is not fining people for misinformation and this language was never intended to be inserted in our policy.” That’s terrific, or would be if it weren’t for the fact that PayPal’s current Acceptable Use Policy still threatens $2,500 fines per infraction for promoting “hate” and “intolerance” — language the Left regularly uses to characterize (and demonize) speech that is critical of its insane policies.

Eugene Volokh pointed out Sunday that PayPal’s Acceptable Use Policy, which was last updated on Sept. 20, 2021, warns the unfortunate PayPal user that “you must adhere to the terms of this Acceptable Use Policy,” or else: “Violation of this Acceptable Use Policy constitutes a violation of the PayPal User Agreement and may subject you to damages, including liquidated

damages of $2,500.00 U.S. dollars per violation, which may be debited directly from your PayPal account(s) as outlined in the User Agreement (see ‘Restricted Activities and Holds’ section of the PayPal User Agreement).”

Click on that “Restricted Activities and Holds” section, and you’ll find a long list of “you must nots,” including the expected prohibitions of fraud, selling counterfeit goods, and the like. But included on the list of things you must not do is “Provide false, inaccurate or misleading information.” False, inaccurate, or misleading in the eyes of whom? Why, of PayPal’s Leftist hall monitors, of course, and no one else, including the person PayPal accuses: “If we believe that you’ve engaged in any of these activities, we may take a number of actions to protect PayPal, its customers and others at any time in our sole discretion.” No one else’s. You’ll have no appeal, no recourse, no opportunity to present your side of the story.

And among the “Prohibited Activities” listed on the Acceptable Use Policy page, you’ll find forbidden “the promotion of hate, violence, racial or other forms of intolerance that is discriminatory or the financial exploitation of a crime.” No problem, eh? You have never engaged in or ever plan to engage in any promotion of hatred, violence, or intolerance, so you’re in the clear, right? Wrong. Leftists routinely accuse patriots of promoting hate: Wanting a secure southern border is promoting hate. Not wanting to see our schools become platforms for genuinely hateful and false race grievance propaganda is promoting hate. Disagreeing with the Leftist dogma that Islam is a religion of peace is promoting hate. Not believing that Jan. 6 was an insurrection or that Donald Trump is a traitorous Russian puppet is promoting hate.

Related: [UPDATED] Could PayPal Policy Allow Them to Deduct Up to $2,500 From Your Account for Spreading ‘Misinformation’?

And so what PayPal’s still-in-force Acceptable Use Policy is saying is that at PayPal’s sole discretion, it can decide to start fining wrongthinkers and taking thousands of dollars from your account for the sole reason that you don’t toe the Left’s political line. PayPal backed down on fining you for spreading “misinformation,” but few people seem to have noticed at all that it still threatens to fine you for “hate” and “intolerance.” Don’t like drag queens sexualizing primary school children? If a PayPal wonk decides that’s “intolerance,” you could be out $2,500, and remember, that’s just for one infraction alone. If you dare to express your dissent more than once, you could be in to PayPal for tens of thousands of dollars.

Can they do this? Will they do this? That depends on who wins the game of judicial roulette. Will a case challenging this get heard by a judge appointed by Obama or Biden, or by one whom Trump appointed? PayPal’s Acceptable Use Policy is one indication of why Leftists are so avid to pack the Supreme Court and so incandescently enraged with Justices Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett. Give the Left a Supreme Court majority, and the ruling will come that PayPal is a private company that need not be bound by First Amendment considerations, and is free to put political pressure on its users however it may wish to do so.

It’s certainly time to ditch PayPal. But make no mistake: PayPal is not alone in this. They’re just out front on it. Before too long, every one of the social media giants and financial services will have similar policies, unless there comes to be such a change in the American customer base that these massive corporations see that woke fascism simply isn’t profitable for them, as tens of thousands of people, or more, stop using their services. That part is up to us.

PayPal Warned Over Speech Restrictions by Federal Financial Regulator

By Jack Phillips October 12, 2022 Updated: October 12, 2022

A top federal financial regulator said he was considering investigating PayPal for a policy that it has now rescinded that would fine users $2,500 for spreading “misinformation.”

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Rohit Chopra told CNBC suggested that the policy, which PayPal said over the past weekend was issued in error, was too extreme.

“I’ve never actually never heard of a payment system thinking that it could fine someone for legal expression that their users are making,” Chopra told the outlet on Wednesday.

“We have ordered most of the major Big Tech firms and payment companies to provide us with information about how are they making decisions about who they kick off their platforms,” Chopra stated. “But we also need to look into whether they believe they can be fining users for legal activity.”

Chopra said the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau would have to investigate the matter and would not act yet. However, he noted it might be “new territory” for the agency to investigate.

On Sunday, the San Jose, California-based payment services firm said that an acceptable use policy “recently went out in error that included incorrect information.”

“PayPal is not fining people for misinformation and this language was never intended to be inserted in our policy,” the company told news outlets. “Our teams are working to correct our policy pages. We’re sorry for the confusion this has caused.”

The company did not elaborate on why or how it was mistakenly published. A request for comment from The Epoch Times was not returned.

More Details

According to several media reports last week, PayPal published a policy update prohibiting customers from using its services for activities identified by it as “sending, posting, or publication of any messages, content, or materials” promoting “misinformation.”

The new policy, which said customers could have to pay damages of $2,500 for each violation, was supposed to go into effect on Nov. 3, the reports said. A page that contained the controversial PayPal terms of service that included the fine was apparently taken down by the firm, but an archived version of it remains online.

“You are independently responsible for complying with all applicable laws in all of your actions related to your use of PayPal’s services, regardless of the purpose of the use,” it stated. “In addition, you must adhere to the terms of this Acceptable Use Policy. Violation of this Acceptable Use Policy constitutes a violation of the PayPal User Agreement and may subject you to damages, including liquidated damages of $2,500.00 U.S. dollars per violation, which may be debited directly from your PayPal account(s).”

Criticism

After reports spread about the rule, former PayPal executives, including David Marcus and Elon Musk, sharply criticized the firm.

“A private company now gets to decide to take your money if you say something they disagree with. Insanity,” Marcus wrote on Twitter. Elon Musk, the billionaire Tesla chief who co-founded PayPal, wrote “Agreed,” replying to Marcus’s tweet.

Even though PayPal backtracked (note from webmaster they haven’t see story directly above), the damage was already done. Shares for the firm plunged 6 percent on Monday, and the term, “delete PayPal” trended across Twitter.

My personal story with Paypal, and how it relates to what is happening now.

I stopped using Paypal about 12 months ago for customers processing purchases from my website.

Paypal had frozen my account to all transactions because I had provided some incorrect information.

It was mainly my mistake, because I wanted to add my new Company name to the account I’d established way back prior to 2008. See proof in the next image showing a payment button circa 2008.

Because I had clicked the wrong button (according to them) there wasn’t a back button in their processes of updating customer details.

Going from a partnership name DM & KA Ashton to a Company was real hard (for them) and a bloody nightmare for me. So after about 1-2 months of back and forth emails telling me it was wrong, I warned them I would just stop using the account.

No one seemed to give a shit at Paypal so neither did I. (You can’t even delete the account whilst information they want is pending).

Come forward 12 months later I was forced to try and get the account right, because a renewal subscription was due and Paypal payment “as a member” was the only option.

So, begrudgingly I resubmitted the paperwork and BAM, it was accepted this time. Why the difference? I’m none the wiser so can’t help you with that question.

So all was good for 1 day, and then restrictions were placed on the account again.

I had to answer more questions.

Why Political? Looking at the articles on this page and reading between the lines, the answer is obvious.

So I’m still only going to use Paypal for purchases, and will not give them the priviledge of taking $2,500 (US money of course) from my account. Would I be a sure fire bet they would do it to me? That is a dumb question that I don’t expect you to answer, especially given the subjects on this website.

This image appears on the front page of my website when it loads for the first time. You can guess if Paypal would target me.

To finalise todays rant, I will attach two more images about Paypal, which are screenshots of the questions being asked of me. This may be normal I don’t know, because I opened my Paypal account way back before Jesus was born.
